The dryer bottle in a crane's air conditioning system is an important component, and it mainly has the following functions:
I. Drying Function
1. Removing Moisture
- During the operation of the air conditioning system, the refrigerant circulates. The refrigerant itself, as well as during the installation and maintenance of the system, may bring in moisture. The dryer bottle is typically filled with desiccants such as silica gel or molecular sieves. These desiccants have a strong affinity for water and can absorb moisture from the refrigerant.
- If moisture remains in the refrigerant, it can have many adverse effects on the air conditioning system. For example, in the refrigerant, moisture can reduce the refrigeration efficiency of the refrigerant. This is because moisture can freeze in the refrigerant circulation process, especially when the air conditioning system is operating at low temperatures. Ice crystals can block key components such as the expansion valve. The dryer bottle, by absorbing moisture, effectively prevents this from happening.
2. Preventing Corrosion
- When moisture is mixed with certain components in the refrigerant (such as the refrigerant itself may contain a small amount of acidic substances), it can produce corrosive substances. These corrosive substances can corrode the metal components in the air conditioning system, such as the compressor, condenser, evaporator, etc.
- The dryer bottle, by removing moisture, reduces the possibility of the formation of corrosive substances, thereby extending the service life of the air conditioning system components.

1. Filtering Impurities
- During the installation, maintenance, or refrigerant replenishment of the air conditioning system, impurities may enter the system. These impurities include dust, metal shavings, etc. The dryer bottle can act as a filter for these impurities.
- For example, during maintenance, if the refrigerant pipe is cut or welded, metal particles may enter the system. The dryer bottle can intercept these particles and prevent them from entering key components such as the compressor, avoiding wear on the compressor's pistons, crankshafts, and other parts, and ensuring the normal operation of the air conditioning system.

III. Stabilizing System Pressure and Flow
1. Buffering Function
- The dryer bottle also serves as a buffer in the air conditioning system. As the refrigerant circulates in the system, due to the compression action of the compressor, the pressure and flow of the refrigerant will fluctuate. The dryer bottle can hold a certain amount of refrigerant and act as a buffer for pressure and flow changes.
- For example, at the moment the compressor starts, the pressure of the refrigerant will rise sharply. The dryer bottle can absorb part of the pressure fluctuation, making the system pressure changes more stable and avoiding excessive pressure impact on the system components, thereby ensuring the stable operation of the air conditioning system.
